If you have a special occasion coming up and and need a fancy, but inexpensive idea for the cake, then try this! I bought a pack of 12 inch diameter Wilton doilies for only $1.96 at Walmart. I measured my large cupcake around the widest part and added about 1/4 inch to the mesurement. I then cut the edge of the doiley to measure that length. I snuggley wrapped the doiley edge around the cupcake and taped the two ends together using double stick tape. Very easy!

How cute are these?!!!! What an easy idea to 'pretty-up' those cupcakes for birthdays and special events. Thanks bunches for another great and beautiful idea.
What a super idea. So simple yet so effective.
Love them. These would also be cute to make favor cups for a wedding. Get cupcake wrappers in the wedding colors, wrap the cut out doily around it and add a couple dabs of hot glue to hold it in place. You could fill them with mints, almonds or other goodies.
I am adding this to my crafting blog http://villagecraftingroom.blogspot.com/
Thanks for sharing.
You saved my life!!! Well, my money, anyway!! We're doing a cupcake tree for our wedding. We need 300 of these, and I found out a way to get three "wrappers" out of one doily. You are AMAZING!!! What could have cost us $300 for those overpriced cupcake wrappers... (which we NEVER would have bought, BTW) is now only going to be around $20. If you don't mind, I added your post to my Wedding Blog to share with my "bridal friends" across the world. Thank you!! =o)
Thank you so much! My neices wedding shower is Saturday and I wanted to do something special. This will be amazing. What a fab idea! Off to WalMart now!
